Every morning I find myself having a media breakfast way before I have an actual breakfast. This is what keeps me growing, learning and evolving as a designer. Here you'll find the components of that meal... and some random stuff on the side

color orgy

I LOVE LOVE LOVE color and light. Without a doubt, i don't know where i'd be without it [perhaps its a cultural thing].

I finally made my way to the MOMA for the Olafur Eliasson exhibit. Today was it's last day and we got there 3 hours before the show ended. In a previous post I expressed my view on the NYC Waterfalls and I must say, he redeemed himself with the "Take your time" exhibit. You'll find some of the images from our little trip into light and color world of Eliasson.

Hair Torture

What started out as a simple question "Mom can i get dreads?" turned into a few weeks long constant begging. Ian's younger brother wants dreadlocks. After a lot of research from his part [selective, of course] mom and dad said "Okay you can get them for your birthday"

Here we are, as promised. Weekend trip to Brooklyn and now Ian and I are becoming dreadlock professionals with the tools from Knotty Boy. Who knows, perhaps this will be a career change for the two of us.

Of course, we'll provide photo updates every 30 minutes or so. One thing is for sure, this will be task for Ian and I to communicate with each other. He's a boy with no experience on long thick hair and I'm a girl who always has had long thick hair. Hour and a half into the process and Dylan is on his 3rd Ibuprofen.

Don't mind the order of which the images are found in..

We started at 11:30 am and by 3:51 Dylan started with his jokes and impersonations... its going to be an interesting time until we are done.

Burning Man

A mutual friend of Ian and I [actually he's the one that introduced us to each other] was telling us about this event in the Nevada desert known as "Burning Man". Ian got excited about it and decided that he wanted to go-- a getaway with his boys. Well after looking into it for myself [i was a bit skeptical of it at first], I found it to have a very interesting concept behind it and an experience in itself. Unfortunately, Ian won't be attending this summer and I'm happy about that because that just mean that we can make it into an "aray and ian" getaway next summer.

"Every year, tens of thousands of participants gather to create Black Rock City in the Black Rock Desert of Nevada, dedicated to self-expression, self-reliance, and art as the center of community. They leave one week later, having left no trace."

Olafur Eliasson - The New York City Waterfalls

Interesting but is it necessary. Our economy is worse and worse by the minute and yet 15 million dollars were spent on this project. How about you take that money and put it towards the ARTS for public schools. Follow the link to read the article. Don't get me wrong, i think it's an interesting idea but not for the price tag.

Blue Man Group

After spending the whole day running errands with Ian, we were getting cranky at each other. All it took was a phone call from my friend Tim saying "Hey I have 2 tickets for the 10pm show of Blue Man tonight, I see the show every night... do you want them" HMMM YES PLEASE!!

We ran back to the apartment, got ready and headed out. I have seen some of their videos and performances on TV and online yet I had no idea what to expect. Anytime that I would meet up with Tim in Manhattan after work, he would have blue paint smudged somewhere on his body [he has the awesome job of being one of the stagehands]. We got our free tickets and sat on the second row of the balcony. I was expecting for the theatre to be HUGEE but nope, it was cozy and small-- PERFECT!. The show was amazing [headband and all] and quite lively. My least favorite part? Getting scared the crap of every time one of the Blue Man decided to climb up the walls and pop up 5 inches away from my face. That was Ian's favorite!

See the show if you can, it's AWESOME!

Dove "realy beauty" campaign

How come I never saw this spot actually run on TV? Was it geared towards the General Market and if so, what station played it?

This should teach everyone a lesson!

A few times a day I get random emails forwarded from Nan [Ian's mom} with funny jokes, pictures and stuff like that. Well earlier today she sent me this one. Ian and I couldn't help but laugh out loud, considering the fact that a few days ago we were discussing how facebook and myspace has become a platform for networking and STUPIDITY! Think about it, a few years from now when this girl is trying to apply for a job, this is what's gonna show up when you do a search for her name. I've learned my lesson with facebook [thanks ORL!]

I know that some people might think "eww why is she putting this up" but seriously, come on now people -- seriously??

Dubai Skyscrapper

Ian and I figured that since his father works for the Sheik of Dubai, we would ask him to graciously provide us with one of the suites.... we'll see how that goes! [ha funny me]

yeah! i figured it out!
